Sustainable purchasing policies

Sustainable purchasing is an integral part of a responsible supply chain and is an increasingly important topic in a company's CSR strategy. After all, each company, whether it is a production or a service company, has to deal with purchases, be they raw materials, the company fleet or office supplies. Moreover, purchases are of strategic importance, as a substantial part of a company's turnover is expended by the purchasing department.

Companies believing in CSR can also use their sustainable purchasing policies as a leverage to spread CSR practices throughout the rest of the market.

Business & Society has launched a working group on this subject. The project runs in partnership with Abcal (l'Association Belge des Cadres d'Achat et de Logistique, www.abcal.org).
